Bone Broth Protein
Bone broth protein is a powder made from broth of simmered animal bones. It contains amino acids also found in collagen, such as glycine and proline.
What has been measured in people?
In a human feeding study, healthy active men consumed 300 mL of bone broth or servings of dairy and collagen proteins. Researchers followed blood amino acids for three hours. Across the protein comparisons, collagen produced higher glycine peaks and dairy higher leucine peaks. 1
The experiment helps explain nutrient availability. It did not measure joint pain, recovery from injury or long-term tissue repair, so those benefits cannot be inferred from the blood measurements. 1
