What has been found for stress?
In a four-week randomized trial, 56 moderately stressed adults completed treatment with a magnolia–phellodendron blend or placebo. The blend improved stress and mood scores and lowered salivary cortisol. The manufacturer funded the study; its design cannot isolate magnolia’s contribution. 1
Does it help with anxiety or sleep?
A six-week pilot enrolled 40 overweight premenopausal women with stress-related eating; 26 completed it. The blend improved temporary anxiety, but not persistent anxiety, sleep quality, time to fall asleep, or cortisol compared with placebo. 2
The pilot did not find a sleep benefit, and its small size limits certainty. 2
