Hemp Protein
Hemp protein is a plant protein powder made from hemp seeds after most of the oil has been pressed out.

A promising blood-pressure trial
A crossover trial recruited 35 adults with mild hypertension. Six-week treatments compared daily casein, hemp protein, and hemp protein enriched with peptides. Blood pressure was lower after hemp treatments, especially the peptide-enriched preparation. One small trial is encouraging, but does not establish a general treatment effect for every hemp powder. 1
What happens after a meal?
Two acute crossover trials found lower post-meal glucose responses with hemp protein than with a carbohydrate control. Hemp did not differ from soy protein. These experiments describe short-term meal responses, not prevention of diabetes or long-term weight change. 2
A favorable acute response is not proof of lasting metabolic benefit. 2
