What changed around menopause?
An eight-week trial randomized 80 women to 300 mg root extract daily or placebo. Menopausal symptom scores and hot flashes improved more with shatavari; 73 women completed treatment. This is a short-term signal, not evidence of lasting relief. 1
Does it help with PCOS?
In a 12-week trial of 70 women with polycystic ovary syndrome, shatavari improved stress scores and some ultrasound measures. Ovarian volume, hormones, and BMI did not differ significantly from placebo. These findings do not demonstrate improved fertility. 2
