Magnesium Aspartate
Magnesium aspartate is a magnesium salt of aspartic acid, an amino acid. It is one of several forms of magnesium used in supplements.
How well is magnesium aspartate absorbed?
A comparison in healthy volunteers estimated absorption from the increase in urinary magnesium. Aspartate, chloride and lactate performed similarly and better than oxide. This was an absorption study, not a test of sleep or exercise recovery. 1
Does that make it the best form for sleep or stress?
Sleep, anxiety, stress, blood pressure, bone density, recovery and energy-crash claims specific to magnesium aspartate are not evaluated here. The absorption result should not be treated as a verdict on those outcomes.
